HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 77-129 RESOLUTION NO. 77-129 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF VALENCIA AVENUE FROM RED HILL AVENUE TO THE NEWPORT FREEWAY. WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to improve Valencia Avenue from Red Hill Avenue to the Newport Freeway, and WHEREAS, Valencia Avenue is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest, and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a county, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid- to any city in the i~nprovement, construction or repair of a street within a city, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1978-79 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Tustin hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County funds the amount of $63,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement, reconstruction and repair of Valencia Avenue; said improvements to be in accordance with the attached project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work on Valencia Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the CiLy of Tustin agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements will be available for the fiscal year 1978-79.
