HUSTON, CITY MANAGER OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK APPLICANTS FOR COMMISSION/COMMITTEE VACANCIES No. 15 03-19-01 11 I I I SUMMARY: Staff is requesting the City Council set the date and time to conduct interviews to fill Vacancies on the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Audit Committee. RECOMMENDATION' Pleasure of the' City Council. BACKGROUND' Due to the recent adoption of Ordinance No. 1233, terms for all commissioners on the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission will expire on March 21, 2001. Pending adoption of Ordinance No. 1234, Audit Committee member terms will expire on April 31,2001. Information was made available to the public through an advertisement in the Orange County Register, the City's website, and on the City's posting board, that the City Council was seeking candidates interested in serving on the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Audit Committee. The following individuals have expressed interest and their applications are attached for City Council review: PLANNING COMMISSION (5 vacancies) - Two (2) vacancies for i-year terms expiring on March 1,2002, and three (3) vacancies for 2-year terms expiring on March 1,2003' Cheryl Bell, Doug Davert, Andrew Hamilton, Linda Jennings, Steve Kozak, Bernard Miller, and Leslie Pontious. Any additional applications received by staff after the preparation of the agenda will be provided to the City Council at their meeting on March 19, 2001. The final step in the selection process would be completion of ballots by the City Council, which has been tentatively scheduled for their meeting on Monday, April 2, 2001.
