MISS TUSTIN SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
SUMMARY:
The Miss Tustin Scholarship Pageant is requesting a donation from the City Council to support
the March 2001 event.
RECOMMENDATION:
Pleasure .of the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no appropriation for the Miss Tustin Scholarship Pageant in the current budget. Any
contribution would require City Council approval.
BACKGROUND:
Preparations are now underway for the Miss Tustin Scholarship Pageant which will be held in
March 2001. The pageant returned to the City in 1999 after an absence of several years.
Based upon the success of the event over the past two years, the committee is requesting
financial assistance from the City again this year. Last year the Council supported the Miss
Tustin pageant with a $2,500 gift.
The contestants must live in the Tustin Unified School District and be. between the ages of 17
and 24. The winner of the Miss Tustin Pageant then goes on to the Miss California Pageant
where she competes to go on to the .Miss America Scholarship Pageant. The pageant then
provides Miss Tustin with $2,500 in scholarship money, and she receives $1,000 just for being
in the Miss California Scholarship Pageant. All contestants receive some scholarship money.
· The allocations of dollars can only be used to further the education of the contestants.
Cherrill Cady, the Executive Director of the Miss Tustin Scholarship Pageant, will be .in
attendance to answer any questions.

Dear Mayor Thomas,
I would like to thank you for the support that you have given the Miss Tustin Scholarship Program the last
two years. We have had some outstanding contestants that we have helped with their College Education.
The contestants must live in the Tustin Unified School district, be between the ages of 17 & 24. Miss
Tustin then goes on to the Miss California pageant where she competes to go on to the Miss America
scholarship Pageant. We give Miss Tustin $2500.00 in Scholarship Money and she receives $1000.00 just
for being in the Miss California Scholarship pageant. All contestants receive some scholarship money. The
moneys can only be used to further her education.
We would again like to ask for you financial support in the amount of $2500.00.
Please let me know if there is any other information that you require or if you would like me to come talk
to the council.
