SUBJECT: SET INTERVIEW DATE FOR COMMISSION VACANCIES: COMMUNITY
SERVICES COMMISSION AND PLANNING COMMISSION
SUMMARY:
Due to term expirations, staff is requesting that the City Council set a date and time to
conduct interviews to fill vacancies on the Community Services Commission (formerly
Parks and Recreation), and the Planning Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Pleasure of the City Council.

BACKGROUND:
Due to term expirations, the following commissioners will have terms that will expire on
March 1, 2008: Planning .Commissioners Chuck Puckett and Jeff Thompson, and
Community Services Commissioners Henry Nunez and Bryan Glassman. As a result of
the passage of Ordinance No. 1331, effective April 6, 2007, all commissioners serve at
the pleasure of the City Council and are eligible to serve multiple terms.
As usual, we will publish a notice in the Tustin News, and post notices on the City's
website and City's posting boards. The notice will include qualifications, duties, and
meeting dates.
Applications received for positions will be distributed with the Agenda Packet at the time
interviews are held. Staff suggests that interviews and selection of commissioners be
scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th as a Regular Business item.

make appointment at the
March 4, 2008 City
Council meeting.
Tustin encourages people to become involved in their local
community.
One way to do so is to serve in an advisory capacity on one of the
city's various commissions. The city is accepting applications to fill
two positions each on the Planning Commission and Community
Services Commission (formerly known as the Parks and Recreation
Commission).
Positions Available:
PLANNING COMMISSION: Two positions on the Planning Commission are
available due to term expirations. The commissioners selected will serve until
March 1, 2010 or until their respective successors are appointed and
qualified.
The Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of
each month to evaluate development proposals and submit recommendations
to the City Council regarding land use matters in the City. The terms of office
are for two (2) years. Compensation is $150.00 per regular meeting.
Applicants are required to be registered voters in the City of Tustin.
COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION): Two positions on the
Commission are available due to term expirations. The commissioners
selected will serve until March 1, 2010 or until their respective successors are
appointed and qualified.
The Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month
and serves as an advisory body on recreation, parks, park design, facilities,
and programs in Tustin. The terms of office are for two (2) years.
Compensation is $100.00 per meeting. Applicants are required to be
residents of the City of Tustin.
