RESOLUTION NO. 83-98
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MAIL BALLOT
ELECTION FOR REORGANIZATION NO. 53, HELD ON TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 8, 1983, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH
OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a special mail bal lot el ection for Reorganization No. 53
was held and conducted in the City of Tustin, California, on Tuesday, Novem-
ber 8., 1983, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in
time, fora and manner as provided by law; that ballots were mailed to all
registered voters in Precinct No. 71-368; that in all respects said election
was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed
and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by
the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the
holding of elections in cities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 83-82 adopted October 17,
1983, the City Clerk of said City canvassed the returns of said election and
has certified the results to this 'City Council, said results are received,
attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFOR-
NIA, DOES .' HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DEIERMINE /glD ORDER ,t~ FOLLOWS'
SECTION 1. That this was a mail ballot election for the purpose
of holding said election consisting of County Precinct 71-368 as established
for the holding of state and county elections. .
SECTION 2. That at said special mail ballot election, the follow-
ing measure was submittod to the electors of County Precinct 71-368, to wit'
MEASURE
Shall the area known as "Reorganization No. 53" be reorganized in
the cities of Tustin and Irvine, CA?
SECTION 3. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in
said mail ballot election was 23.
That the number of absent ballot votes given for and against the
measure was as listed in "Exhibit A."
That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified
voters voting on the Measure relating to Reorganization No. 53 did vote
against thereof, and that said measure was defeated.

SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify lto the passage and
adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original
Resolutions of said City; and shall make.a minute of passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City,
in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at an adjourned regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Tustin, California, on the 15th day of
November, 1983.

I, Mary E. Wynn, City Clerk of the City of Tustin, County of
Orange, State of California, duly authorized by Resolution No. 83-82,
adopted by the City Council of said City on the 17th day of October, 1983,
do hereby certify that I have canvassed the returns of the Special Mail
Ballot Election for Reorganization No. 53, held in said City on the 8th day
of November, 1983, and find that the number of votes given in the mail
ballot election for and against the measure were as follow~.
