SUBJECT: STATUS OF LEGACY PROJECTS
Pursuant to a request from the Planning Commission for status of the extension of
Tustin Ranch Road through the former MCAS Tustin facility, and for status of the
Barranca Parkway improvements, the following information has been prepared:
1. The Tustin Ranch Road extension from Warner Avenue to Walnut Avenue is
currently in the design phase. The roadway is being designed in two phases,
from Warner Avenue to Valencia Avenue, and from Valencia Avenue over
Edinger Avenue to Walnut Avenue. Design of both phases is expected to be
completed this summer. Construction will commence on both sections of Tustin
Ranch Road concurrently, and is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2008, with a
completion date set for September 2009.
2. The improvements on Barranca Parkway are being designed and constructed by
Vestar Development Company in two phases. The first phase between
Jamboree Road. and Tustin Ranch Road is comprised of underground facilities
(utilities, storm channel and large water lines) and surface facilities (curbs,
gutters, sidewalks, roadway, and landscaping). The underground facilities are
anticipated to be completed in winter/spring 2009 due to winter working
requirements by the large utility providers. The surface improvements are
currently being completed with surface paving anticipated in April 2008.
The second phase of the Barranca Parkway improvements is currently being
designed by Tustin Legacy Community Partners, the master developer of
Legacy. Design is anticipated to be complete by August of 2008, with
construction commencing in the fall of 2008. The anticipated completion date for
this section of Barranca Parkway is September 2009.
