RESOLUTION NO. 76-137
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO
INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING
PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEWPORT AVENUE
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to
from Laguna Road to Main Street, and

improve Newport
WHEREAS, Newport Avenue is an important artery in the
County of Orange and of general County interest, and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division
2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes ·a county, if it
so desires, to expend funds apportioned to ,it out of the
California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to anY city in the
improvement, construction or repair of a street within a city,
and
·
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by
appropriate action, provide in the County budget of .the Special
Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1977-1978' a sum of
money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated
cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County
Arterial Highway ~inancing Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT' RESOLVED that the Council of
the City of Tustin hereby requests the. Board of Supervisors of
the County of Orange to allocate to said City from ~ounty funds
the amount of $22,500.00, said amount to be matched by funds
from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement
of Newport Avenue from Laguna Road to Main Street, and for the
acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and
~cquisition of rights of way' to be in accordance with the
attached project statement;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said
work and acquisition of rights of way on Newport Avenue, in
the manner provided, is in the general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the
City of Tustin agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial
Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of
the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available
for the fiscal year 19 77-1978.
