RESOLUTION NO. 76-75
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING A JOINT POSITION
AGREEMENT ON THE FUTURE ROLE OF THE ORANGE
COUNTY AIRPORT '
WHEREAS, the cities of Costa blesa, Irvine, Newport Beach
an~ Tus'tin did develop and adopt a joint position pertaining to
~he role of the Orange County Airport as it relates to corru,,~er¢ial'
air transportation, and
WHEREAS, in response to the concerns of affected residents
and communities, Supervisor Thomas F. Riley has proposed an alter-
native position incorporating and amending the joint position
agreement presented by the cities adversely affected by. current
airport operations, and
.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the ~ity of Tustin determines
that the proposal of Supervisor Riley is a workable solution to
provide relief to prevent adverse operations and to direct fu%ure'
policie~s, .
NOW THEREFORE BE' IT RESOLVED. that the City Council of the
City of Tustin does hereby endorse the following policies for
adoption by the Board of Supervisors of .Orange Count~ for the
operation and maintenance of the Orange County Airport' and air
carrier service to the residents of the County· of Orange:
1. There shall ~e no increase in the presently authorized sched-
uled air carri%r service at Orange County Airport utilizing
jet aircraft mntil the Noise Standards for California Airports
for the 'year 1985 have been me~
2. The Orange County Airport shall continue to operate as and
shall be restricted to a short-haul metroport'with 'flight
service lengths limited to 500 nautical miles.
3. The County of Orange, diligently seeking the cooperation of the
County of San Bernardino, City of Ontario and Los Angeles
Department of Airports, shall make. every effort to initiate
and maintain regularly scheduled rapid transit surface and
"com~uter" air service between the Orange County Airport,
Ontario International Airport and Los Angeles International
Airport.
4. _Any future increase in· scheduled air carrier service at Orange
County Airport shall be contingent· upon the achievement of
noise 'parameters established by the United States of America
and/or the State of California. No increase in future 'service
shall be considered without s'abstantive evidence of compliance
with noise standards and demonst, rated need..
5. The County of Orange' shall designate and promote.ontario Inter-
national Airport as the reg'ional airport which can facilitate
O.range County's future demands for medium.and long-haul air
transportation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Tustin, California, at a regular meeting held on the 2nd day. of
August, 1976.

Council of the City of Tustin, California does hereby
certify that 'the whole number of the members of the City
Comnci! of the City of Tustin is five; that the above and
foregoing Resolution No. 76-75 was duly and regularly
introduced, read, passed and adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 2nd day of August, ,
