RESOLUTION NO. 76-21
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN AUTHORIZING THE TUSTIN BICENTENNIAL
COMMITTEE TO APPLY FOR RECOGNITION OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN AS A GREEN SURVIVAL CITY

WHEREAS, the City of Tustin is known as "The City of Trees;"
and -
~!EP3EAS, the City of Tustin is desirous of continuing to.
improve its beauty, to support programs and efforts'to' upgrade
the greenery and landscaping in all segments of the City, an-~ to
encourage all its citizenry to become involved-in such programs;
and
WHEREAS, '~n creating capital improvements the City of Tustin
takes great pains to preserve existing trees as well as to put
in new; and
~.~HEREAS, the City of Tustin does support the Tustin Ki~anis
Club, the Tustin Charpber of Commerce, and the "Tustin Beautificatior..
Committee" formed by these two .organizations and designed to
promote such programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin supports and endorses the Tustin
Bicentennial Committee working in conjunction with the Tustin
Bicentennial Association in programs for a celebration of the
Birthday of this great country; a 'celebration which includes.the
creation of lasting evidence of this celebration for the enjoyment
and enrichment of future generations living in Tustin by promoting
landscape beautification in and around the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, a progr~n ins tituted by the American Association
of Nurserymen, Inc., and recognized by the American Revolution
Bicentennial Administration as an official national program to
aid in the celebration of the U. S. Bicentennial wherein a city
may apply for designation and national recognition to increase the
beauty of' landscaping in and around the city, to increase and
provide for educational programs to aid and assist the citizenry.
in personally contributing to the beauty through landscaping and
by committing to continue to encourage such goals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tusti'~ wishes to become nationally
recognized as a "Green Survival" City-
NOW, THEP£FORE BE IT RESOLVED that 'the City of Tustin auth-
orizes the Tustin Bicentennial Committee to apply to become the.
first city on the West Coast to be designated as a "Green Survival
City; and .- '
That the City will give its support, recogniti6n and encouraf:~
ment to private persons, civic groups, and organizations involved
in programs qualifying as "Green. Survival" City programs.
