HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 75-73 RESOLUTION NO. 75-73 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA APPROVING ALTERNATIVE 6 OF SANTA ANA RIVER FLOOD CONTROL PLAN . . The' City Council of. the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, by Resolution No..F74-69, dated August 13, 1974, the Orange County Board of Supervisors expressed preference for a flood control plan developed for the Santa Ana River by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and [dentifi'ed as "Plan F"; and .. WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has completed a draft review report dated August 1975 entitled "Review Report on the Santa Ana River Main St&m and Santiago Creek"; and o WHEREAS,. "Plan F" has .been changed somewhat and redesignated as "Alternative 6"; and WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers recommends in 'said report the approval of a flood protection plan known as "Alternative 6" which includes- construction of a new dam and reservoir at Mentone in San Bernardino Coun-hy; modification of Prado Dam incl.uding rebuilding the emergency spillway and outlet works, raising the dam 30 feet and providing a controlled dis- charge of 30,000 cubic' feet per second contemporaneous with peak discharges from downstream tributaries; improvement of the Santa Ana River Channel through urban Orange .County for standard pr'oject flood protection; and improvement of the lower portions of Santiago Creek for standard project flood protection. .. NOW, 'THEREFORE,. BE iT RESOLVED, that among the alternatives incl.uded by the' Corps of Engineers in the August 1975 review report,. Alternative 6 is the preference of this City Council by reason of its- 1. Providing a level of protection commensurate with the present and projected level of Orange County's economic development. 2.. Limiting the discharge from Prado Dam to 30,000 cubic feet per second contemporaneous with peak discharges f.:om the downstream watershed . tributary to the Santa Ana River during the' occurrence of a standard pro'ject flood, said discharge minimizing the relocation of homes in' Orange, Riverside and san Bernardino counties.
