HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 74-0898 9 10 I1 18 14 15 16 17 18 19 ~0 21 30 81 RESOLUTION NO. 74-89 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN REQUESTING THE .COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN. THE FEDERAL AID URBAN THREE YEAR (F.Y. 1973-74, 1974-75, 1975-76) PROGRAM THE DEVELOP~LENT OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS ALONG NEWPORT AVENUE WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to install new and modify existing traffic signals and appurtenances at various intersections along Newport Avenue from Irvine Boulevard to Sycamore Avenue to provide for an interconnected system; and WHEREAS, Newport Avenue is important to transportation planning in the County of Orange and of gene. ral County interest; and WHEREAS, the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973 provides Federal Funds for expenditure on the Federal-Aid Urban (FAU) SYstem of Highways and non highway public mass transit projects; and WHEREAS, the FAU System consis%s of certain eligible State Highways, County roads and city streets located within urban and urbanized areas of the State; and · . WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation intends that funds be allocated to the urbanized and urban areas on the basis of proportional population in conformance with the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973; and WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has specified that each urban and urbanized area must develop an acceptabt-e process for reviewing projects and recommending priorities and that %he appropriate regional planning agency (SCAG) must concur with the process; and WHEREAS, a FAU' process has been approved County of Orange, in accordance with the above which will establish a FAU Three Year Program 1974-75, and 19 75-76) . for the requirements, (FY 19 73--74, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tustin hereby requests that the installation of new and modification of existin'g traffic signals and appurtenances at various intersections along Newport Avenue from Irvine Boulevard to Sycamore Avenue to provide for an interconnected system.be included in the Orange County FAU Three Year Program; said improvements to be in accordance with the attached preliminary project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Tustin will comply with. the basic policies and procedures of the Orange County FAU Program; and its share of the cost of improvements which is presently estimated to be $53,300.00, will be availmble for the fiscal year 1975-76. , PASSED A~ND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Tustin, this 18th day of November, 1974.
