RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN REQUESTING THE COUNTY
OF ORANGER TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL
HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT
OF NEWPORT AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to improve Newport
Avenue from Irvine Bouleva.~d 'to McFadden Avenue, and
WHEREAS, Newport Avenue is an important artery in the
County of Orange and of general Cou~ty interest, and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chap'her 9, Division 2
of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if
it so desires, to e-,pend funds apportioned to it out o'f the
California ilighway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the
improvement, construction or repair of a street within a
City, and
'
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by
10 appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the
Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year '74-'75
11 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the
incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the
1~ Orange County Arterial Itighway Financing Program.
18 NOW, THE RE FO P~E , BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Tustin hereby requests the Board. of
14 Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate 'to said City
from County Funds the amount of $80,000.00, said amount to
16 be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said
City in the improvement of Newport Avenue from Irvine
· ~ Boulevard to McFadden Avenu. e.~ and for the ac. quisJ_~.lon o~
necessary rights of way to be in accordance with the attached
1~ project statement;
18 BE IT FURTI!ER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that
19 said work and acquisition of rights of way on 'New'port
Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general County
~0 interest.
BE IT FURTt!ER RESOLVED that, by this Resolu. t;ion, the
City of Tustin agrees with the basic concepts of 'the
Arterial Highway Financing Program; and. -~rti.':er ag'roes
that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way
will be available for the Fiscal Year '74-'75.
