RESOLUTION NO. 73-68
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL
FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATE-
MENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Department of California Highway Patrol has
been given the responsibility for establishing, implementing,
and administering a statewide, program concerning' abandoned
vehicle abatement, and
WHEREAS, the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program is being
financed through the Abandoned Vehicle Trust Fund created
pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 9250.7, and
W}IEREAS, the 'Department of California Highway Patrol hms
heretofore evidenced its intention to negotiate an agreement
with each city which has ordinances and a city program for
the abatement of abandoned vehicles which ordinances and
program comply with Sections 22660 and 22710 of the Vehicle
Code, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin has heretofore adopted the
required ordinances and implemented an abatement .program in
accordance therewith, and

WI=.F. REAS, pursuant to such an agreement; the cities and
counties of the State will be reimbursed for the costs of
abatement of such abandoned vehicles, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the
City of Tustin to participate in the Abandoned Vehic].e Abate-
ment Program proposed by the Department of California ttighway
Patrol and to receive reimbursement for the costs which are
incurred by the City in administering this program
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Tustin that the City hereby requests the Department
of California Highway Patrol to execute a contract by and between
said Department and the City of Tustin for the establishment
'imPlementation, and administration of the Abandoned Vehicle
Abatement Program within the City of Tustin.
BE IT FURT}tER RESOLVED that by this resolution, the
City Council of t'he City of Tustin hereby requests the
opportunity to participate in the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement
Pr og r a'm.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at. a regular meetin~ of the City
Council held on the 1st day of October, 1973.
