HUIZAR, CHIEF DEPUTY CITY CLERK SUBJECT: LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES VOTING DELEGATE SUMMARY: The League's 2008 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 24-27 in Long Beach. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, scheduled for Saturday morning, September 27th. At this meeting, the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the city council must designate a voting and alternate delegate. RECOMMENDATION: Consistent with League bylaws, appoint a Voting Delegate and an Alternate for the League of California Cities' Annual Business Meeting scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2008. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: This year's League Annual Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24 through Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Long Beach. One very important aspect of the Annual Conference is the annual Business Meeting when the membership takes action on conference resolutions. To expedite the conduct of business, each city council is being requested to designate a voting representative and an alternate who will be present the City at the Business Meeting.
