RESOLUTION NO. 72-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN URGING THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES AND THE COUNTY SUPERVISORS ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA TO MODIFY THE RULES ESTABLISHED BY PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION CASE NO. 8209 FOR UNDERGROUNDING EXISTING UTILITY LINES. WHEREAS, the California 'PUblic Utility Commission, by' Case No. 8209, has established the rules and regulations for the conversion of existing overhead distribution facilities~ and ,~ WHEREAS these rules and regulations now require local government to become directly involved in the conversion' of ~he customer' s service; and WHEREAS this involvement with the customer's s~rvice is inefficient and cumbersome and results in an undue and needless burden being placed on local government; and .. WHEREAS it is felt that the utility companies are better equipped and staffed than public agencies to work with their own . · CUStomer s, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council the City of Tustin urges the League of California Cities and the · County Supervisors' Association to support a change in the exist- ing rules and regulations for the Conversion of the customer's · . service that would eliminate the requirement for local government b~ing, directly involved in converting said service; an~ BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send copies of this resolution to the League of Cali- fornia Cities, the County Supervisors' Association of Cali£ornia, and all of the cities in Orange County.
