HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 71-85 RESOLUTION NO. 71- 85 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF FIRST STREET (PHASE II) . WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to improve First Street 5 from the Newport Freeway to Prospect Avenue, and · ~ WHEREAS, First Street is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest, and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the 8 Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Hig.hway 9 Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, con- struction or repair of a street within a City, and 10 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate 11 action, provide in the County budget of the Special. Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year '72-'73 a sum of money for- lZ the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the .County in accordance with the Orange' County Arterial Highway 1~ Financing Program. 14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tustin hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the 15 County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds the amount of $111,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from 16 said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of First Street from the Newport Freeway to Prospect Avenue, and 1~ for the acquisition of necessary rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the 19 County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on First Street, in the manner ' ~0 provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Tustin agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for the Fiscal Year '72-'73. 24 ~?
