RESOLUTION NO. 71-51
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN PETITIONING THE ORANGE
COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT FOR PRIOR-
ITY FUNDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF BARRANCA
CHANNEL
WHEREAS the economic iifeblood of a city depends upon
emPloyment opportunities of its residents and the economic base
of "industrial development; .. and
~ .
WHEREAS the City'i' of Tustin has reserved by zoning a
cohesive and compatible area~ for industrial use which now has a
potential for development; .and
.
· WHEREAS said area contains 'a forty acre parce~ bound-
,
ed by Bell, Warner and Red Hill Avenues that cannot be developed
until adequate provision is.made for storm water drainage; and
WHEREAS said area is contiguous to the political
jurisdictions of the NatiOnal Government (USMC Air Station -H),
City of Santa Aha a~d County,, of Orange and the storm waters of
the aroea are regional in origin and disposal; and
WHEREAS a master, plan for storm drain'ag~ of the area
has. been p~'ep~red by the Orange County Flood Control District,
kno.wn ~s the Barranca Channel, and is under contract negotiations
for. partial completion; and
WHEREAS that portion in Red Hill Avenue from Barranca
Road to Valencia is the only~missing link in the system,
'NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of Tustin does hereby petition the Orange County Flood Control '
District to budget and appropriate funds in the fiscal .year
1972-73 budget as a prioritY~ item for the completion of the
Barranca Channel in Red Hill'Avenue from Barranca Road to
Valenci'a.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Counci 1 of the City of Tustin held on the 16th day of August,
1971. ~
