RESOLUTION NO. 71-41
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING A
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FACILITY IN
ORANGE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the Central District of California ranks
twenty-second in geographical size among the present ninety-three
United States District courts; and
'~ W~EREAS, it is the only District among the first se
seven in geographical .size'. to have'only a single courtroom location;
. . WHEREAS, the 'Central District of Califorhia ranks sixth

~of the ninety-three United States CdUrt Districts in the number of
", civil case filings; and '

WHEREAS, the Population encompassed within the Central

District of California is the largest among the ninety-three United
'. States Court Districts; and '
I ~ WHEREAS, it iS probable that criminal filings are lik l'y
to bear, at least 'in a general way, a relationship to population a~d
the number of civil filings; and :
"$~' WHEREAS, the difficulty of getting to the present Court-
house in Los Angeles from 'the outlying Counties, such as Orange, :~
Riverside and S~m Bernardino, due in part to heavy freeway congesticn

and due :tn part .%o the complete 1~¢1{ of adequate parking fa¢ilitie~

near the present Courthouse makes an additional courtroom location

desirable; and'
WHEREAS, the above factors indicate the requirement ard
desirability of an additional courtroom facility in the Central
