A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN PETITIONING THE INTER-
MOUNTAIN - COAST RATE COMMITTEE FOR
1 EQUITABLE TARIFFS

WHEREAS, class rates for motor freight to the City o
3
ustin, California were established at such time as the economy of
4
he area was principally agriculture, and
5
WHEREAS, the class rates presently in effect are
6
stablished at the San Diego Group Classification and there are no
7
xisting commodity rates, and
8
WHEREAS, The City of Tustin is striving to achieve a
9
conomic balance by the promotion and support of industrial develop-
10
ent, and
11
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin is in competition with
12
ther communities of Orange and Los Angeles County for the promotion
13
nd development of industry, and finds tariff rates applicable to th
14
ity of Tustin to be discriminatory in relation to neighboring com-
15
unities and the general market area, and
16
WHEREAS, Tustin is geographically located at the
17
~'ntersection of major freeways of Santa Ana (Route 5) and Newport
18
(Route 55) with its general economy and transportation network
19
inked to that of Los Angeles County, and
20
WHEREAS, the Rocky Mountain Bureau Rate Committee ha
21
cheduled Docket Number 330-5073 for consideration on June 22, 23,
22
4, 1971, for the elimination of the current inequity to Tustin of
23
he rate structure, on request of the Pacific Intermountain Express
24
ompany,

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council
26
ustin does hereby petition the Rate Committee of the Rocky Mountain
27
otor Tariff Bureau, in the interest of equity for the City of Tusti
28
and its industries, to approve the proposal as contained in Docket
29
o. 330-5073 by establishing the California Index of Points for the
30
31 City of Tustin within the Los Angeles class rate group and commodity
32llrate group.

Tustin is five; that the above and foregoing Resolution No. 71-26
