HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 0999 RESOLUTION NO. 999 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION APPROVE APPLICATION NO. 51007 TO PROVIDE A CERTIFICATE OF CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY TO PERMIT SCHEDULED, DIRECT AIRLINE SERVICE BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY AND SACRAMENTO. WtIEREAS, there is now pending before the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California an application (No. 51007) to provide direct airline service between Orange County and Sacramento; and, WHEREAS, Orange County is a nationally recognized major metro- politan area and is the County with the second highest population in the State of California; and, WHEREAS, there does not now exist direct airline service between Orange County and Sacramento; and, WHEREAS, it is becoming an increasing hardship for businessmen, educators, local governmental officials, and· other citizens to travel by surface transportation the long distance and extra hours to airports outside of Orange County for air travel; and, WHEREAS, all of the citizens and governmental entities of Orange County will benefit from regularly scheduled airline service to Sacramento; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Public Utilities Commission be requested to provide a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to permit scheduled, direct airline service between Orange County and Sacramento; and, FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the Public Utilities Commission be urged to expedite its procedures so that this necessary service will become available to the citizens of Orange County at the earliest possible date.
