SERLET, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE SYCAMORE AVENUE STORM DRAIN FROM SCHOOL LANE TO DEL AMO AVENUE (CIP NO. 5033) SUMMARY Construction of the Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033) has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and is now ready for City Council acceptance. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 08-68 accepting the Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033); and 2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office. FISCAL IMPACT The final construction cost for the Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain Project from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033) is $384,104.10. The project was funded by a combination of City Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funds and Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Project construction, along with design and construction management, has increased the City's infrastructure assets by approximately $448,017. Any increased infrastructure valuation amount will be added to the City's infrastructure inventory after final project accounting by the Finance Department as required by Statement 34 of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB 34). Draft final cost information is currently shown on the attached GASB 34 Infrastructure Inventory Valuation Forms. Acceptance of Public Improvements and Authorization to File the Notice of Completion for the Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain Project from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033) October 21, 2008 Page 2 DISCUSSION The Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain Project from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033) was completed on August 28, 2008. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Sycamore Avenue Storm Drain from School Lane to Del Amo Avenue (CIP No. 5033) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
