HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 930RESOLUTION NO. 930 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, STATING OPPOSITION TO THE CONTINUANCE OF. THE ORANGE COUNTY HARBOR · DISTRICT AS A SEPARATE TAXING AUTHORITY. The City Council of the City of Tustin, California does -resolve as foll°ws· WHEREAS, the. City Council of the City of Tustin has reviewed the Report by the Harbors, Beaches, and Parks Study Committee of the Orange County Division of the L~ague of California Cities; and WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned with the continuing existence of t~e Harbor District as it is presently constituted as a separate agency; and , ~. , ~. WHEREAS, ii is our opinion that the District does not benefit the citizens of Tustin to the extent to which such citizens are taxed directly by the District; and WHEREAS, we support the First RecomMendation of the St.udy Committee of the League which states that harbors, beaches, and parks are a proper responsibility of the County; and WHEREAS, the City Council supports, in general, the other recommendations of this Committee, EXCEPT THAT we do not concur in Recommen- dation Number Four relative to continuing the Harbor District as a separate taxing unit,. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tustin City Council is of the. opinion that regional services for harbors, beaches, and parks should be, a responsibility of the County, under a single department of the County, financed by County funds, but without separate taxing authority for · such activities.
