RESOLUTION NO. 917
A RESOLUTON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, SETTING FORTH OPPOSITION TO ABUSE
OF PER DIEM ALLOWANCES BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS the people of the STate of California, by Constitutional
amendment, have provided that per diem allowances may be paid
to legislators for days when they have not been recessed for more
than four days; and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Tustin has recently become aware
of the fact aht on Sunday, November 26, 1967, the legislative bodies of the
State of California convened, conducted no substantial business,
and adjourned, all for the purpose of the legislators not being
more than four days in adjournment, in order that the legislators
of the State of California could obtain their per diem allowances,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin
California, does hereby resolve that it hereby expresses its great
moral indignation at the practice of the Legislature of the State of
California in convening solely for the purpose of obtaining
per diem allowances, in contravention of the spirit of the provisions
for per diem allowances for legislators,
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council
of the City of Tustin, held on the l8th day of December, 1967.
