RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ANNEX TERRITORY
PURSUANT TO ANNEXATION OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY
ACT OF 1939, AS AMENDED, DESCRIBING THE
TERRITORY TO BE ANNEXED, DESIGNATING THE NAME
OF THE ANNEXATION AS "NORTHWEST ANNEXATION TO
TUSTIN" SETTING FORTH THE REASONS FOR SAID
ANNEXATION AND SETTING A TIME AND PLACE FOR
HEARING PROTESTS THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve
as follows:
'Sec ti on 1. That the City Council of the City of
Tustin on its own motion does intend to annex pursuant to the
Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1959, as amended,
that contiguous territory described as follows:
Beginning at an angle point in the boundary line of
the City of Tustin, as now established, said point
being the intersection of a line parallel with and
distant 540.00 feet North of the center line of
First Street with a line parallel with and distant
50.00 feet East of the surveyed center line of
Tustin Avenue; thence West 20.00 feet to the East
line of Tustin Avenue (60 feet in width); thence
Northerly along the said East line of Tustin Avenue
408.72 feet, a little more or less, to the Easterly
prolongation of the Northerly line of Fourth Street
(60 feet in width) as shown on a map of Tract No.
678, recorded in Book 32, page ll, Miscellaneous
Maps, records of Orange County, California; thence
Westerly along the said Easterly prolongation and
the North line of Fourth Street, a distance of 270.00
feet to a point; thence Northerly, parallel to the
center line of Tustin Avenue, as shown on said map
of Tract No. 678, 1671.16 feet to the North line of
Fruit (40 feet in width, formerly Depot Street) as
shown on a map of "Maybury Tract" recorded in Book
36, page 65 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles
County, California; thence Westerly along said North
line of Fruit Street, 419.00 feet; thence Northerly
parallel to the center line of Tustin Avenue, 1267.66
feet to the South line of Lot 4 of said "Maybury
Tract"; thence West, along the said South line of
Lot 4, 799.60 feet, more or less, to the Southwest
corner thereof; thence Northerly along the West
line of said Lot 4 and along the West line of Lot 1
of said "Maybury Tract" 126~.64 feet, to the North-
west corner of said Lot i of the "Maybury Tract",
said Northwest corner being 25.00 feet South of the
surveyed center line of Seventeenth Street; thence
Easterly along a line parallel with and 25 feet
Southerly measured at right angles from said surveyed
center line a distance of 2075 feet, more or less,
to the East line of the West l0 acres of Lot 5 of the
Felipe Yorba Tract as said tract is shown on a map of
the partition of the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana;
thence Southerly along said East line a distance of
545 feet more or less to the South line of the North
5 acres of said West l0 acres; thence Westerly along
said South line to a point ~0 feet Easterly from
the surveyed center line of Tustin Avenue; thence
Southerly parallel with said surveyed center line
of Tustin Avenue to the South line of said Lot ~;
thence Westerly 20 feet to a point ~0 feet East
measured at right anMles from the center line of
Tustin Avenue (60 feet wide); thence Southerly
along the Easterly line of Tustin Avenue (60 feet
wide~ ~178.78 feet to a point 271.28 feet North-
erly from the Easterly prolongation of the North
line of Wourth Street, as shown on a map of said
Tract No. 678; thence Easterly parallel to the
center line of First Street, ~7.96 feet more or
less to the 'East line of the Southwest 19 acre
parcel shown on ?elipe Yorba Tract recorded in
Book 4, page 206, Miscellaneous records of Los Angeles,
California; thence Southerly along the' East line
of said 19 acre tract 680 feet more or less to
an angle point in the city bou. ndary; thence Westerly
along the city Boundary ~37.9(~ feet more or less,
to the point of beginning.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Tustin
does find and determine that there are less than twelve voters
entitled to vote in the territory and residing in said area here-
inabove de sc ri bed.
Section 5. That the reasons the City Council of the
City of Tustin desires to annex said territory are as 'follows:
1. To provide better fire and police protection to
the area to be annexed.
2. To establish city control over zoning, traffic
and related matters affecting the territory which is deemed to
be within the sphere of influence of the City of Tustin.
5. To protect the Tustin Elementary and Tustfn Union
High School Districts from encroachment by the CitY. of Santa Ana
and the Santa Ana School District.
4. To increase the size of the City of Tustin.
Section 4. That said annexation shall be known and
designated as the "NORTHWEST ANNEXATION TO TUSTIN".
Section ~. That the City Council of the City of Tusttn
will hear protests made by persons owning real oroperty within
the territory proposed to be annexed on Nay 20, 19~?, at 6:~0
o'clock P. N. in the City Council Chambers at the City Hall,
14~ West Third Street, Tustin, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Tustin at a regular meeting held on the 8th day of April,
1957, at the hour of _~7~:40_ o'clock P. ~.
