HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 388RESOLUTION NO. 388 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF MYRTLE STREET, AND AUTHORIZ- ING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS. WHEREAS, IT IS THE INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Tustin to make certain improvements on a portion of Myrtle Street; and' WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the proposed improvement of a portion of Myrtle Street. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the plans and speci- fications presented by the City Engineer be and are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for the improvement of Myrtle Street. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City ~Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications, which said advertisement shall be substantially in the following words and fi gure s, t o-wi t: " NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS" In pursuance of a.resolution of the City Council of the City of Tustin, Orange County, California, adopted directing this notice, NOTICE IS HEREBY. GIVEN .that the said City Council will receive at the office of the City Clerk in the City Hall of the City of Tmstin, on or before the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m., on the 23rd day of .J_u!Y,~ 1956 sealed bids or proposals for the impr6ve'~ent of a portion of Myrtle Street. Bids must be made on a form provided for the purpose addressed to the City Council, Tustin California, marked "Bid ~for the Improvement'of Myrtle ~treet.4~ Notice is hereby given bidders that in accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Tustin has ascertained the prevailing rate of per diem wages for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded the successful bidder, to be as follows: CLASSIFICATI ON · Motor Patnel Operator, including any type of power blade - RATE PER HOUR $ 3.02 Skip Loader Operator- wheel type 2.77 Laborers, General or Construction 2.20 Truck Drivers - 12 yds. but less than 16 yds. water level Truck Drivers 8 yds. but less than 12 yds. water level Truck Drivers yds. but less than yds. water level 2.385 2.335 F1 agman 2.20 Asphaltic Spreading, Mechanical Tamping or Finishing Machine Operato~ Roller Operator Pnemmatic or Electric Tool Operator - $2.77 2.69 Overtime-- one and one-half (IsA) times the above rates. Sundays and holidays (.except watchmen, guards and flagmen) one and one-half (l~) times the above rates. The foregoing prevailing wage schedules are based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight (8) hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that multiple of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8). In accordance with the provisions of Section 1777.5 of the Labo~ Code as amended by Chapter 971, Statutes of 1939, and in accordance with the regulations of the California Apprenticeship Council, properly indentured apprentices may be employed in the p~osecution of the work. The bidder must submit with his proposal a satisfactory check ccertified by a responsible bank and payable to the order of the City of Tustin, or a bidder's bond, for an amount not less than ten (lO) per cent of the aggregate sum of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into the proposed contract if the same is awarded to him, and in event of failure to enter into such contract said check or bond shall become the property of the city. The amount of the bond to be given to secure a faithful per- formance of the Contract for said work shall be fifty (50) per cent of the contract price thereof, and an additional bond in an amount equal to fifty (50) per cent. of the contract price for said work shall be given to secure the payment of claims for any materials or supplies furnished· for the performance of the work contracted to be done by the Contractor, or any work or labor of any kind done thereon and the Contractor will also be required to furnish a certificate that he carries compensation insurance covering his employees upon work to be done under contract which may be entered into between him and the said City for the construction of said work. No bid will be' accepted from a Contractor who is not licensed in accordance with the provisions of the Contractors License Act, or to whom a proposal form has not been issued by the City Clerk. The work is to be done in accordance with the profiles, plans and specifications ~f the City of Tusttn on file in the office of the City Clerk, of the City Hall of Tusttn, California. Copies of the plans and specifications will be furnished upon application to the City Clerk. The City Council of the City of Tustin reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
