A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN RECOMMENDING DISAPPROVAL OF THE
AMENDMENT PROPOSED (DISTRICT MAP C 91) TO
CHANGE A PART OF SHEET l, SUBURBAN SECTION
OF DISTRICT MAP C, OF ORDINANCE NO. 351
COUNTY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, the .City' Council of the City of Tustin has
received a recommendation from the Planning Commission of the
City of Tustin concerning certain land use changes requested
in the vicinity of the intersection of Newport Avenue and
Irvine Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered this matter
by reason of its proximity to the' City of Tustin and its prob-
able affect on the Tustin area:
NOW, THEREFORE, the Ciby Council of the City of Tustin
does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. That it be and it hereby is recommended
to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of
California, that the amendment proposed (District Map C 91)
to Sheet 1, Suburban Section of District Map C of Land Use
Ordinance No. 351 of Orange County, California, as amended,
whereby M-1 and C-1 Zones are sought to be created in the vi-
cinity of the intersection of Irvine Boulevard and Newport
Avenue, including the areas presently occupied by the Tusttn
Hills Orange Packing House and the Golden West Orange Pack-
ihg House, be denied.
Section 2. It is recommended that a continuation of
existing uses be permitted by means of the existing non-con-
forming prior land. use in the subject area and by variances
permitting needed expansion. It is believed that this is the
best method of controlling and regulating land use and devel-
opment in the subject area which is surrounded by high type
residential areas and that to spot zone in the manner pro-
posed would merely lead to fu~the~ attempts of an expansion
of the area through variance or further zone amendments
which would untimately deteriorate the surrounding residen-
tial area.
