HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 336RESOLUTION NO. 336 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF MAIN STREET, A MAJOR CITY STREET, BETWEEN CALIFORNIA STREET AND "D" STREET (US 101), PROJECT NO. 18, AND APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF "B" STREET, A MAJOR CITY STREET, FROM MAIN STREET TO SIXTH STREET, PROJECT NO. 19, AND AUTHORIZ- ING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS. · WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin to make certain improvements on Main Street; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin to make certain improvements on "B" Street; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the proposed improvement of Main Street, be- tween California Street and "D" 'Street (US 101); and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the proposed improvement of "B" Street, from Main Street to Sixth Street. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the plans and speci- fications presented by the City Engineer be and they are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for the improvement of Main Street, between California Street and "D" Street (US 101) and for the improvement of "B" Street, from Main Street to Sixth Street. BE IT ~URTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications, which said advertisement shall be substantially in the following words and figures, t° wit: "NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS" In pursuance of a resolution of the City Council of the City of Tustin~, Orange County, California, adopted directing this notice, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the said City Council will receive at the office of the City Clerk in the City Hall of the City of Tustin, on or before the hour of 7:~30 o'clock P. M., on the 4th day of May, 1953, sealed bids or proposals for the Improvement of Main Street, between California Street and "D" Street .(US 101), in the City of Tustin, California, and sealed bids or pr~oposals for the Improvement of "B" Street, from Main Street to Sixth Street, in the City of Tustin, Calif- orni a. Bids must be made on a form provided for the purpose, addressed to the City Council, Tustin, California, marked "Bid for the improvement of Main Street, between California and "D" Stree~ts" or marked "Bid for the Improvement of "B" Street, from Main Street to Sixth Street." Each contract for the work to be done will be awarded separately to the lowest responsible bid- der bidding on said project. Notice is hereby given bi~ders that in accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Tustin has ascertained the prevailing rate of per diem wages for each craft or type of workman or ~ mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded the successful bidder, to be as follows: CLASSIFICATION Motor Patrol Operator, Inc. any type of Power Blade RATE PER HOUR 2.66 Skip Loader Operator - wheel type 2.38 Tractor Operator - Bulldozer, Tamper, Scraper or Drag type shovel or boom at tachment s 2.52 Laborers, General or Construction Tarman and Mortarman 1.99 Drivers of Dump Trucks- less than 4 yds. Water level 2.02 Drivers of Dump Trucks -4 yds. but less than 8 yds. water level 2.04 Water Truck Drivers - under 2500 gal. Watchman 2.07 1.86 Asphaltic Spreading, Mechanical Tamping or' Finishing Machine Operator Screed Operator 2.52 2.24 Roller Operator Pneumatic or Electric Tool Operator .95 Climber (Tree) 2.00 Overtime - one and one-half (1~) times the above rates. Sundays and holidays (except'watchmen, guards and flag- men) one and one-$alf (l~) times the above ~ates. The foregoing p~evailing wage schedules a~e based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight (8) hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that multi- ple. of the foregoing., rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8). "in accordance with the provisions of Section 1777.5 of the Labor Code as amended by Chapter.. 971, Statutes of 1939, and in accordance with the regulations of the California Apprentice- ship Council, properly indentured apprentices may be employed in the prosecution of the work. The bidder must submit with his proposal a satisfactory check certified by a responsible bank~and payable to the 'prder of the City of Tusttn, or a bidder's bond, for an amount not less than ten (lC) per cent of the aggregate sum of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into the proposed con- tractif the same is awarded to him, and in event of failure to enter into such contract said check or bond shall become the property of the City. The amount of the bond to be given to secure a faith- ful performance of the contract for said work shall be fifty (%0) per cent of the contract price thereof, and an additional bond in an amount equal to fifty (~0) per cent of the contract price for said work shall be given to secure the payment of claims for any materials or supplies furnished for the perfor- mance of the work contracted to be done by the Contractor, or any work or labor of any kind done thereon and the Contractor will also be~. required~., to furnish a certificate that he carries compensation, insurance covering his employees upon work to be done under contract which may be entered into between him and the said City fo~ the construction of said work. ,.. No bid will be accepted from a Cont~acto~ who is not r licensed in accordance with the provisions of the Contractors License Act, or to whom a p~oposal form has not been issued by 245 the City Clerk. The~work is to be done in accordance with the profiles, plans and specifications of the City of Tustin on file in the office of the City Clerk, of the City Hall of Tustin, California. Copies of the plans and specifications will be furnished upon application to the City Clerk. The City Council of the City of Tustin reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
