HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 325RESOLUTION NO. 325 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE INPROVEMENT OF PROSPECT AVENUE, BE- TWEEN MAIN STREET AND FIRST STREET, AND AU- THORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS ~HEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin to make certain improvements on Prospect Avenue; and~ ~tER~S, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the proposed improvement of Prospect Avenue, between Main Street and First Street. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved ths~ the plans and specifications presented by the City Engineer be and are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for the improvement of Prospect Avenue, between Main Street and First Street. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications, which said advertisement shall be substantially in the following words and f i gut e s, t o-wi t: ( "NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS" In pursuance of a resolution of the City Council of the City of Tustin, Orange County, California, adopted direct- lng this notice, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the said City Council will receive at the office of the City Clerk in the City Hall of the City of Tustin, on or before the hour of 7:30 o'clock p. m.., on the 5th day of January, 19%3, sealed bids or proposals for the Improvement of Prospect Avenue, between Main Street and First Street, in the CitY of Tustin, California. Bids must be made on a form provided fo~ the purpose, addressed to the City Council, Tustin, California, marked "Bid for the Improvement of Prospect Avenue". Notice is hereby given bidders that in accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Tustin has ascertained the pre- vailing rate of per diem wages for each c~aft o~ type of 224 workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded the successful bidde~, to be as follows: CLASSIFICATION RATE PER HOUR Motor Patrol Operator, Inc. any type of Power Blade 2.66 Skip Loader Operato~ - wheel type 2.38 Tractor Operator-Bulldozer, Tamper, Scraper or Drag type shovel or boom attachments 2.52 Laborers, C~eneral or Construction Tarman and ~ortarman 1.99 Drivers of Dump Trucks - less than 4 yds. water level 2.02 Drivers of Dump Trucks - 4 yds. but less than .8 yds. water level 2.0).-!. Water Truck Drivers - under 2500 gal. 2.07 Watchman 1.86 Asphalt Spreading, Mechanical Tamping or Finishing Machine Operator 2.%2 Screed Operator 2.24 Roller Operator 2.4% Overtime - one and one-half (1~) times the above rates. Sundays and holidays (except watchmen, guards and flagmen) one and one-half (1~) times the above rates. The foregoing prevailing wage schedules are based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight (8) hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that multiple of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8). .~. In accordance with the p~ovisions of Section 1777.~ of the Labor Code as amended by Chapter 971, Statutes of 1939, and in accordance with the regulations of the California Appren- ticeship Council, properly indentured apprentices may be employ- ed in the prosecution of the work. The bidder must submit with his p~oposal a satisfac- tory check certified by a responsible bank and payable to the order of the City of Tustin, or a 'bidder's bond, for an amount not lessthan ten (10) per cent of the aggregate sum of the bid, as a guarant~ee that the bidde~ will enter' into the p~oposed con- tract if the same is awarded to him, and in event of failure to ente~ into such contract said check or bond shall become the p~op- e~ty of the City. ~ The amount of the bond to be given to secure a faithful performance o£ the Contract fo~ said wo~k shall be fifty (~0) per cent of the contract price thereof, and an additional bend in an amount equal to fifty (50) per cent of the contract price for said work shall be given to secure the payment of claims for any mat- erials or supplies furnished for the performance of the work con- tracted to be done by the Contractor, or any work or labor of any kind done thereon and the Contx. actoz, will also be ~'equi~ed to furnish a certificate that he carried compensation insurance~ cov- e~'ing his employees upon wo:r.k to be done under' contract which may be entered into between him and the said City fo~ the const~uc- ti on of said work. No bid will be accepted from a Contractor who is not licensed in accordance with the provisions of the Contractors License Act, or to whom a proposal form has not been issued by the City Clerk. The work is to be done in accordance with the profiles, plans and specifications of the City of' Tustin on file in the office of the City Clerk, of the City Hall of Tustin, California. Copies of the plans and specifications will be furnished upon application to the City Clerk. The City Council of the City of Tustin reserves the right to~ reject any and all bids.
