HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 321RESOLUTION NO. 321 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT OF WARRANT OFFICERS AS MEMBERS OF THE TUSTIN POLICE DEPART- MENT, FIXING THE COMPENSATION THEREOF, TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT EMBODYING SAID TERMS WITH SAID WARRANT OFFICERS. The City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: Section 1. That Elmer .Johansen be authorized to em- ploy H. 1.,. Von Wittenberg and John Barney t~/arner, as warrant officers in the Police Department 0£ the City of Tustin. Section 2. That the primar'7 duty of said warrant officers will be the serving of warrants of arrest and the taking of bail pursuant to such direction as may be ~eceived by the City Judge, but said duties shall not be limited to this function and may consist of othe~ duties to be performed at the direction of the Chief of Police. Section ..3. That said war~-m~t offtce~.s shall be paid at the rate of $10.00 for each warrant of arrest served. That said. paTments shall be paid semi-monthly ~"ter roceipt of writ- tot4 reports from said war~ant office~s verified by the oath of the reporting officer. Section ~. That such moneys as may be collected by said warrm~t office~s shall be str'ictly accounted for and de- livered to the City Clerk immediately togethe~ with written ~e- po~ts of the numbe~ of wart. ants served, the persons served, and the amounts of money collected, et other disposition of the war- ~ants delivered fo~, service to said war'rant officer, s. Section 5. That said warrant officers shall assume and pay fo~ thei~ own t~ansportation and othe~ expenses incurred in connection with the carrying on of their wo~k as warrant of- fice~s for the City of Tustin, and in this connection they shall agree to assume and be liable fo~ their own liability and agree to save the City har'mless from any and all ~'esponsibility, loss or claim arising out of their conduct as warrant officers of the Police Department of the City of Tustin. Section 6. Said w$~ant offtce~s shall continue to serve at the pleasure of the Chief of Police and the City Council.
