HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 270RESOLUTION NO. 270 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN DECLARING THAT THERE NO LONGER EXISTS SUCH A SHORTAGE IN THE RENTAL HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF TUSTIN AS TO REQUIRE RENT CONTROL IN SAID CITY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tustin held a public hearing at an adjourned regular meeting on Octobe~ 31, 1950, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. pursuant to its notice of intention to hold a public meeting for the purpose of deter- mining whether or not there existed a sh,rtage of rental housing accommodations within the City of Tustin such as to require the .; continuance of rent control in the City of Tustin, or whether rent control of rental accommodations in said City of Tustin should be discontinued, which said notice was published once in ~he Tustin News, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Tustin, on the 20th day of October, 95o; WHEREAS, certain persons interested, in the matte~ ap- peared before the City Council at the afoeeaaid public meeting ; . and WHEREAS, statistical evidence introduced indicated that there existed within the City of Tustin at the time of said hear~ ing a 16.0~ per cent vacancy of permanent type dwelling accotone- dations, of which vacant dwelling units 13 per cent were rental units. NOW, THEREF'ORE, 'BE IT ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that there no. longer exists such shortage in rental houseing accommodations within the City of Tustin as to require rent control in said City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be sent to Tighe Wood, Housing Expediter, Washington, D. C. requesting that he sign and approve the action of the City Council in the declaration concerning ~ental housing ac.- commodations made he~einabove, and that the same be ~eleased from Federal Rent Control. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council is aware of action recently taken by the afvresaid Housing Expediter ' 29 decont~olling Tusttn and the' area su~?o~ndin~ in the County of O~ange. it,ate ....of California. and that the action taken herein is .: taken in the b'elfef that there should be a further release from Federal Rent Control so that the matte~ of .~en.t. control would be left up to local authority under the .provisions of the Housing Act of 1950, which is also known as the Housing and Rent Act of 19~7, as amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that there no longer exists such (shortage in rental housing accomodations within the City of Tustin as to require rent control in said City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council is aware !of action recently taken by the aforesaid Housing Expediter decontrolling Tustin and the area surrounding in the County of I ';Orange, State of California, and that the action taken herein is i itaken in the belief that there should be a further release from (Federal Rent Control so that the matter of rent control would be 'deft up to local authority under the provisions of the Housing iAct of 1950, which is also known as the Housing and Rent Act of 1947, as amended.
