SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR THE PINE TREE PARK PLAYGROUND INSTALLATION (PROJECT NO. 2059) SUMMARY: The bid opening for the Pine Tree Park Playground Installation project was held on March 26, 2009. City Council is requested to award the bid to Installation Pros, Inc., in the total amount of $37,806.00 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that: 1. City Council award the contract to Installation Pros, Inc. of Pomona, California in the amount of $37,860.00 subject to the approval of contract requirements by the City Attorney and final execution. FISCAL IMPACT: The installation of new playground equipment at Pine Tree Park is funded through a combination of CDBG and Park Development funds. The total for this project, including the cost of equipment will be $123,272,80. BACKGROUND: The scope of work includes the renovation of the playground at Pine Tree Park located at 1402 Bryan Avenue. The work to be completed consists of demolition and removal of existing play equipment and sand, installation of new playground equipment, installation of wood chip play surfacing and the construction of concrete curbing and three ADA ramps. The playground equipment being installed was chosen by the Community Services Commission and purchased from Kompan, Inc. through the California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) program. SUMMARY: Sealed bids were opened on March 26 2009; six bids were received. The six bids were as follows: Contractor Base Bid Installation Pros, Inc. $37,806.00 Hondo Company, Inc. $49,530.00 Ortco, Inc. $50,790.00 D.A. Lewis Construction, Inc. $68,599.00 Micon Construction, Inc. $69,671.00 T.J. Janca Construction, Inc. $69,880.00 References check of the contractor, review of the bid documents, and a determination that the contractor possesses a valid contractor's license have been completed. The Risk Manager will complete a review of the required bonds and insurance certificates and the City Attorn y ill review the contract.
