HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 167RESOLUTION NO.167 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR APRIL 9, 1946, CONSOLIDATING VOTING PRECINCTS, AND DESIGNATING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR SAID ELECTION. The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does resolve as follows: ~EREAS, the laws of the State of ~alifornia relating to the Municipalities of the Sixth Class, provide for the holding of a General Election in sai~ City on the second Tuesday 'in April of every even numbered year, and further provide that the City Oouncil may, for the purpose of said election, consolidate and designate V'~t.ing precincts and designate election officers for said election, and th i s b ei ng sUCh an even numb er ed ye ar, BE IT RESOLVED: That a regular General Municipal Election be held in the City of Tustin, California, on Tuesday, the 9th day of April, 19~6, for the purpose of electing such officers as are re- quired by law to be elected, to-wit: Three (3) City Councilmen for the full term of four (~) years On® (1) City Oounciam for the short or unexpired term of two (2) years; A City Treasurer for the short or unexpired term of two (2~ years. That there shall be one consolidated election and voting pre- clnct for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a con- solidation of the two regular election precincts in said City estab- lished for holding State and County Elections, to-wit; Tustin Number 1 and Tustin Number 2 precincts, which said 'consolidated precincts shall be known as "Consolidated Election Precinct A" and the boundary lines of said consolidated precinct shall be the present existing boundary lines of the City of Tustin, Orange Oounty, Calif- ornia. Thal such election be held in accordance with the general elect- ion laws of the Sat~ of Cali.fornia,. insofar as the same shall have been..made applicable to municipalities of' the Sizth Class. That the polling place of said ,'Consolidated Election Precinct A" comprising State and County Election Precincts, Tustin Numbe~ I and Tustin Number 2, shall be at the City Hall of the City of Tustin at 135 East Nain Street, in s~id Gity, and the said polls shall be open between the hours of ~:00 o'clock A. N. and y:OO o'clock P. N. of said day. That the following persons, residents and qualified el- ectors in the said City of Tustin, are hereby designated and appointed to act as the election officers at said election, to-wit: Inspector: Judge: Clerk: - and the salareis of said ele ion officers for the pu~ se of said election are hereby fixed as follows: Inspector: $6.Oo per day .. Judge: $6. O0 per day Glerks: $6.00 per day That three (3) offices to be filled for City Councilmen are for the full term of four ($) years, and the three (3) candicates receiving the highest number of votes 'lherefor shall be declared elected for the full term of four(S) years each, and 'in the event of a tie, said matter shall be d~o~.ded by lot. ~ That one (1) office to be filled for ~ity Councilman shall be for the short or unexpired term of two (2) years, and the one , (1) candiated receiving the highest number of votes for said she. rt or unexpired term, shall be declared elected for the short or' un- expired term of two (2) years, and in the event of a tie, said mat- ter shall be decided by lot. That the office to be filled for City Treasurer shall be · for the short or unexpired term of two (2) years, and the candiate receiving the highest number of votes shall be declared elected for said short or unexpired term of two (2) years, and in the event of a tie, said matter shall be d6Oided by lot. ................ .T~.at the OitY Clerk of the City of Tustin is hereby directed and required to give Notice of said Election as required by law, bb the publication of Nolce of Election containing a statement of the time of the election, the offices to be filled thereat, and speci.f...~ing the term thereof, and a general description of the not- ing precinct and the location of the polling place, not earlier than the sixtieth (60th) day nor later than the thi~y-first (31st) day before such election, by publication in a newspaper of genera~ circulation, to-wit, the .TUSTIN NEWS, published and circulated in said City of Tustin, and that said Notice shall be published at least once in said newspaper.
