HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 115 RESOLUTION NO. 115 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR APRIL 14, 1942, CONSOLIDAT- ING VOTING PRECINCTS, AND DESIGNATING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR SAID ELECTION. The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, do resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the laws of the State of California re- lating to the Municipalities of the Sixth Class, provide for the holding of a General Election..in said City on the' second Tuesday in April of every even numbered year, and further pro- vide that the City Council may, for the purpose of said elec- tion, consolidate and designate voting precincts and designate election officers for said election, and this being such an even numbered year, BE IT RESOLVED: .. That a regular General Municipal Elec- tion be held in the City of Tustin, California, on Tuesday, the l~th day of April, 19~2, for the purpose of electi$ g such officers as are required by law..to be elected, to-wit: Three (3) Oity Oouncilmen for the full term of four (~) years each; One (1) City Oouncilman for the short or unex- pired term of two (2) years; A City Olerk for the short or unexpired term of two (2) years. That there shall be one consolidated election and voting predinct for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the two regular election precincts in said Oity established for holding State and County Elections, to-wit, Tustin Number 1 and Tustin Number 2 precincts, which said consolidated precincts shall be known as "oonsolidated Election Precinct A". That such election be held in accord- ance with the general election laws of the State of Oaltfornia, insofar as the same shall have been made applicable to muni- eipalities of the Sixth Glass. That the polling place of said "Oonsoli- dated ElectiOn Precinct A", comprising S~ate and Oounty Elec- tion Precincts, "Tustin Number I and Tustin Number 2, shall be at the City Hall of the City of Tusttn in said City, and the said polls shall be open between the hours of 7:OO o'clock A.M. and ?:00 o'clock P.M. of said day. That the following persons, residents and qualified electors in the said City of Tustin, are hereby designated and .appointed to act as the election officers at said election, to-wit: Inspector: Riehl _ Judge: Arthur Lindsey Clerk: Grace L einb er ge~_ Clerk: and the salaries of said election officers for the purpose of said election are hereby fixed as follows: Inspector: $5.00 per day Judge: Clerks: $~.00 per day $4.00 Per day That the three (3) officew .to be filled for City Councilman are for the full term of four (4) years, and the three (3) candidates receiving the highest hum- bet of votes shall be declared elected for the full term of four (~) years each, and the event of a tie, said matter shall be decided by lot. That one office to be filled for City Oouncilman shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term of the office of City Councilman heretofore held by Sidney J. Bab- cock, and which said office was declared to be vacant on the 7th day of A pri~, 19~1 and thereafte~ filled by Special Elec- tion until the nex~ regular General Election. That the office to filled for City Clerk shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term of said office of City Clerk made vacant by the resignation of Dwight T. Hayden, which said office was thereafter filled by appointment until the next regular General Election, and in the e~z~nt of a tie, said metter shall be decided by lot. That the City Clerk of the City of Tustin is hereby directed and required to give Notice of said Election as required by law, by the publication of Notice of Election containing a statement of the time of the election, the offices to be filled thereat, and '~Pecifying the term thereof, and a general description of the voting precin~ ~nd the location of the polling place, not earlier tha~nthe sixtieth (60th) day nor later than the thirty-first (31st) day before such elec. tion, by publication in a newspaper of general circulation, to-wit, the TUSTIN NEWS, published and circulated in said City of Tustin, and that said Notice shall be published at least once in said newspape=.
