HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 94RESOLUTION NO. 94 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR APRIL 9th, 1940,. CONSOLIDATING VOTING PRECINCTS, AND DESIGNATING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR SAID ELECTION. WHEREAS, the laws of the State of California relating to the Municipalities of the Sixth Class, provide for the holding of a General Election in said City on the second Tuesday in April for every even numbered year, and further provide that zhe City Council may, for the purpose of said election consoli- date and designate voting precincts and designate election officers for said election, and this being such an even numbered year: BE IT RESOLVED: That a Ge~'~'~eral and Regular Municipal E.ection be held zhe City of Tustin on Tuesday, the ninth day of April, 1940 for the purpose of electing such officers as are required by law to be elected, to-wit: Two City Councilmen for the full term of four years eacl~ A City Clerk for the full term of four years A City Treasurer for the full term of four years. That there shall be one consolidated election and voting precinct for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the two regular election precincts in said City established for holding Szate and County Elections, to-wit: Tustin Number 1 and Tustin Number 2 precincts, which said consolidated precincts shall be known as "Consolidated Election Precinct ~". That such election be held in accordance with the general election laws off ~the State of California insofar as the same sahll have been made applicable to municipalities of the S:,..xth Class. "Consolidated Election Precinct A", comprising State and County Election Precincts, Tustin Number land Tustin Number 2, and the polling place thereof shal.~., be at the City Hall of the City of Tustin in said City and the polls shall be open between the hours of seven o'clock A. M. and seven o'clock P.M. of said day. Tha~ the following persons, ~esi,'~'~e?..ts and qualified e!ec- tots in the said City of Tustin, are hereby designated and appointed to act as the election officers at said election, to-wit: Ins~pector: George A. That the one office to be filled for City Clerk is for zhe full term of four years and the candidate receiving the highesz number of votes shal be declared elected for the full zerm of four years., and i~. the event of a tie, said matter sahll be decided by lot. That the office to be filled for City ~reasurer is for the full term of four years and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes shal be declared elected for the full term of four years, and in the event of a ties said matter shall be decided by lot. And the Cizy ?Clerk of the City of Tu..~tin is hereby directed and required to give Notice of said Election as ~e- qui~ed by law by the publication of a Notice of Election cont- aining a statement of the time of the election, the offices to be filled thereat and specifying the term thereof, and a gert- eral descri.ption of the voting precincz and the location of polling place not earlier than .the sixtieth day nor later than the thirty-fir~2 day before such election by publicazion in a newspaper of general circulation, to-wit: The Tustin News, published and circulated in said City of Tustin and that said Notice shall be published at least once in said newspaper. 19~o.
