HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 64RESOLUTOIN NO. 64 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN REQUESTING THAT CONGRESS MAKE AN APPROPRIATION TO WPA IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE IN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO COMPLETION OF PROJECTS BEGUN BUT NOT YET COMPLETED. The City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, recent reduction in Federal WPA allocations to California have been made necessary sharp reduction in Federal contribution for materials to an average figure of from SY.O0 to $5.00 per man month of labor employed; and V~HEREA8, these ~eductions include Federal contribu- tions on projects begun, but not yet completed; and ~VHEREA8, the original aEreements on most of these projects between local government sponsors and WPA called for federal contributions for materials amounting to an ~verage of from $1y. O0 to $13.00 per man month of labor emplosyed; and WHEREAS, the city and county budgets under which these sponsors .~perate, can not provide for unanticipated increases in local contributions in the middle of a fiscal year; and ~VHEREAS, the local governments feel that these original agreements, under which the projects were begun, are a moral if not a legal obligation of the federal government; NOW, THERE¥ORE, BI IT RESOLVED: That the Congress is requested to make s~n appropriation to WPA to become immediately available in an amount sufficient to permit the completion of projects begun but' not yet completed on the basis of the original agreements for allocating cost of materials. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Congressman from this deistrict, and to the members of the United States Senate from California. I, J. R.
