REGULAR MEETING
TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION
NOVEMBER 10, 2009

CONSENT CALENDAR
Approved 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - OCTOBER 27, 2009,
PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING.
Motion: It was moved by Thompson, seconded by Murray, to approve the
Consent Calendar. Motion carried 5-0
None PUBLIC HEARINGS
REGULAR BUSINESS
Recused Commissioner Thompson recused himself due to his property in Old
Town.

Brief Planning Commission discussion ensued.
The City Attorney suggested that any comments from members of
the public be heard.
No one came to the lectern.
Motion; It was moved by Puckett, seconded by Kasalek, to receive and file
the report. Motion carried 4-0.
Commissioner Thompson returned to the dais.
STAFF CONCERNS
3. REPORT OF ACTIONS TAKEN AT THE NOVEMBER 3,
2009, CITY COUNCIL MEETING.
The Director reported as follows:
• The City Council held the first reading on the code amendment
related to the standardized appeals provisions and other minor
text amendments; the second reading will be at the November
17 meeting.
• The City Council held the second reading of the ordinance
related to the Jamboree Plaza planned community regulations;
the applicant will be moving forward with the carwash.
• The City Council will be considering the appeal on Traditions
Restaurant November 17.
COMMISSION CONCERNS
Thompson Attended the Citrus Ranch Park dedication;
• Looking forward the Mayor's Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast
November 19tH;
• On December 1, the OCTA is conducting a Leadership Forum at
the Clifton Miller Community Center from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.;

• Congratulated Luke Thompson for successfully completing the
Dino Dash;
• Asked for the status of the CLG grant process.
Binsack Replied that items were proposed but removed due to the budget
cuts.
Thompson Reminded everyone that the Library Grand Opening takes place
Saturday, November 14;
• Wished everyone Happy Veterans Day and Happy
Thanksigiving.
Puckett Referred to the Citrus Ranch Park dedication and Library Grand
Opening;
• Attended a recent Tustin High School football game;
• On November 19 there is the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast and also
the Christmas Kick-off at Enderle Center where the Santa Sleigh
will make an appearance;
• Echoed Veterans Day and Thanksgiving comments.
Kasalek Volunteered at the Dino Dash, another successful event;
• Attended Citrus Park dedication;
• Congratulated Tustin High School water polo for reaching the
CIF finals, especially Dane Nielsen who had a great season;
• Thanked staff and City Council members for their contributions to
the quiet zone which is much appreciated by the folks in
Peppertree;
• Best wishes to Tammy Murray for a speedy recovery;
• Offered Veterans Day and Thanksgiving comments.
Murray Attended the Halloween Howl, Citrus Park dedication, and
Municipal Water District Water Policy Forum;
• Referred to Prayer Breakfast and Library Grand Opening;
• Congratulated Councilmember Nielsen's son, Dane, on his water
polo career;
• Reminded everyone of the Christmas Tree Lighting, December
4, 6:00 p.m., at City Hall;
• Stated that his wife is doing well;
• Asked that the meeting be closed in honor of the victims at Fort
Hood and all the veterans;
• Wished everyone Happy Thanksgiving.
Kozak Indicated that he also intended to make a similar request to
close;
• Congratulated those involved in the Dino Dash;

• Attended Citrus Park dedication;
• The Tustin Police Officers Association presents the 2009
Comedy and Magic Variety Show December 4; information is
available in the Police Department;
• Referred to the Library dedication Saturday;
• Also on Saturday at the Clifton Miller Community Center a
California Friendly Landscape Workshop from 8:00 a.m. to noon;
• Reminders: the 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting December 4;
Veterans Day tomorrow; Happy Thanksgiving; and, in
conjunction with Chair Pro Tem Murray, closed the meeting in
memory of the Fort Hood soldiers, killed and wounded, and also
remember their families.
8:15 p.m. ADJOURNMENT
The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled
for Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chamber at 300 Centennial Way.
