WILSON, DIRECTOR, PARKS & RECREATION SERVICES SUBJECT: REJECTION OF BIDS FOR PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION AT LAUREL GLEN AND MAGNOLIA TREE PARKS (CIP No. 2064) SUMMARY: City staff is recommending that the City Council reject all bids for the project at this time. The City received eleven bids for this project. City staff will revise plans and specifications and bring this project back to the City Council at a future date. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council reject all bids received on the Purchase and Installation of Park Playground Equipment at Laurel Glen and Magnolia Tree Parks Project (CIP No. 2064), and direct staff to revise the plans and specifications. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact at this time. BACKGROUND: On November 3, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 09-63 approving the plans and specifications for the Purchase and Installation of Park Playground Equipment at Laurel Glen and Magnolia Tree Parks Project (CIP No. 2064), and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids. On December 14, 2009, bids for the project were opened. The City received a total of eleven bids and all but one were under the engineer's estimate. However, due to irregularities among several of the bids, the matter was referred to the City Attorney's office. After a review of these issues, the City Attorney's office recommended the City reject all bids and re-bid the p ~ect pursuant to ublic Contract Code 20166. ~ ~~ D vi A.
