SUBJECT: INTERVIEW AND APPOINT MEMBERS TO THE PLANNING,
COMMUNITY SERVICES AND AUDIT COMMISSIONS
SUMMARY:
The City Council will conduct interviews and appoint two (2) members to the Planning
Commission, two (2) members to the Community Services Commission, and two (2)
members to the Audit Commission. The Planning Commissioners and Community
Services Commissioners will serve until March 1, 2012 or until their respective
successors are appointed and qualified. The Audit Commissioners will serve until
March 1, 2014 or until their respective successors are appointed and qualified.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Interview candidates;
2. Cast ballots to determine appointments; and
3. City Clerk to announce results.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
BACKGROUND:
On February 2, 2010, the City Council set February 16 at 4:30 p.m. to conduct
interviews to fill the vacancies on the Planning Commission, Community Services
Commission and Audit Commission.
Planning Commission -Two (2) vacancies, for terms expiring March 1, 2010.
Incumbents Chuck Puckett and Jeff Thompson are eligible for reappointment.
Community Services Commission -Two (2) vacancies, for terms expiring March 1,
2010. Incumbents Donna Marsh Peery and Janice Hall are eligible for, reappointment
Audit Commission -Two (2) vacancies, for terms expiring March 1, 2010. Incumbents
R. Lawrence Friend and Gregory Moore are eligible for reappointment.
Following the oral interview, the final step in the selection process is the completion of
the ballots by the City Council, and the City Clerk announcing results in open session.
