ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZATION TO
FILE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE JAMBOREE ROAD
REHABILITATION PROJECT BETWEEN 1350 FEET AND 2750 FEET
NORTH OF TUSTIN RANCH ROAD (ClP NO. 7171)
SUMMARY
Construction of the pavement rehabilitation of Jamboree Road between 1350 feet and 2750 feet
north of Tustin Ranch Road (CIP No. 7171) has been completed to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer and is now ready for City Council acceptance.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 02-27 accepting the Jamboree Road
Rehabilitation Project between 1350 feet and 2750 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road (CIP No. 7171)
and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion, and direct the City Clerk to:
1. Release the Labor and Materials Bond not sooner than thirty-five (35) days after the date of
recordation of the Notice of Completion; and
2. Release the Faithful Performance bond not sooner than one year after the date of recordation
of the Notice of Completion; and
Assuming no claims or stop notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of
recordation of the Notice of Completion the City Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention
in the amount of $76,484.45 to Sequel Contractors, Inc. This amount, together with previous
payments of $688,360.08 represents 100% of the final contract cost.
FISCAL IMPACT
The final construction cost of this project is $764,844.53. The project is funded by a combination of
the City Capital Improvement fund monies, the State Traffic Congestion Relief Fund monies
(AB2928), and the Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA) Combined Transportation
Funding Program (CTFP) under the Arterial Highway Rehabilitation Program (AHRP). The AHRP
provides up to 50% reimbursement to a maximum of $400,000 for eligible construction expenses
through the Federal Local Surface Transportation Program (LSTP).

BACKGROUND
The pavement rehabilitation project for Jamboree Road provided for the total reconstruction of the
asphalt concrete pavement and replacement of the traffic striping on Jamboree Road from 1350
feet north of Tustin Ranch Road to 2750 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road (See Exhibit A). All of
the work for this project has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and is now
ready for City Council acceptance.

RESOLUTION NO. 02-27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR
THE JAMBOREE ROAD REHABILITATION PROJECT BETWEEN 1350 FEET
AND 2750 FEET NORTH OF TUSTIN RANCH ROAD (CIP NO. 7171)
WHEREAS, Sequel Contractors, Inc. having a contract with the City of
Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and
completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner
satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said
public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with
the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and
acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of
the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract
documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Tustin that said public work and improvement is found to be complete, and the
same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly
described as follows:
JAMBOREE ROAD REHABILITATION BETWEEN 1350' AND 2750' NORTH
OF TUSTIN RANCH ROAD (CIP NO. 7171)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin
is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the
acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required
by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Tustin held on the18th day of March 2002.
