TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 22, 2010

CONSENT CALENDAR
Approved 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - MAY 25, 2010,
PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING.
It was moved by Puckett, seconded by Kasalek, to approve
the Consent Calendar. Motion carried 4-0.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
Continued to the 2. TENTATIVE TRACT MAP 17342, A REQUEST TO
July 27, 2010, SUBDIVIDE A 9.62 ACRE PROPERTY IMPROVED
Planning Commission WITH FIVE (5) OFFICE BUILDINGS AND ON-SITE
meeting PARKING AND LANDSCAPE AREAS INTO FIVE (5)
NUMBERED LOTS AND ONE (1) LETTERED LOT
FOR OFFICE CONDOMINIUM PURPOSES. THIS
PROJECT IS LOCATED AT 17772-17882
SEVENTEENTH STREET IN THE PLANNED
COMMUNITY BUSINESS PARK (PC BUS PARK)
ZONING DISTRICT.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission adopt Resolution No.
4149 recommending that the City Council approve
Tentative Tract Map 17342.

This report is to apprise the Tustin Planning
Commission of a number of recent and planned
improvements to the Community Development
Department's web page, which are intended to share
enhanced and expanded planning and building related
information and resources.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission receive and file this
report.
It was moved by Kasalek, seconded by Kozak, to receive and
file the report. Motion carried 4-0.
Received and filed 4. SUMMARY OF PROJECTS
The summary focuses on the status of projects that the
Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator, or
Community Development Director approved, major
improvements projects, and other items of interest.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission receive and file this
report.
It was moved by Puckett, seconded by Kasalek, to receive and
file the report.
STAFF CONCERNS
5. REPORT OF ACTIONS TAKEN AT THE JUNE 1 AND
JUNE 15, 2010, CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS.
The Director indicated that the City Council held the first and
second readings for the massage ordinance, which will go into
effect shortly.
Chair Murray asked about the legislation pending before
committees regarding modifications.

The Assistant City Attorney responded that much of that bill
was gutted in one of the Assembly Committees and what
remains of that bill has not yet passed.
COMMISSION CONCERNS
Kozak • Offered congratulations to staff regarding the project
status website report; the activity is a good sign for all
parts of the City;
• Stated the following regarding events: June 6tH the Old
Town Street Fair and Chili-Cook-off was one of the best,
thanks to Don Ropele, Marilyn Esposito, AI Murray, and
the Parks and Recreation staff; June 10tH State of the City
was a very moving presentation by Mayor Amante; June
12tH the Tustin Police Department Open House was an
enhanced, very interesting presentation for the
community; June 20t" was Father's Day; June 23`d is the
first Concert in the Park, featuring the Fenians; July 4tH
features the Independence Day Parade in Tustin
Meadows and fireworks at Tustin High School.
Kasalek Offered congratulations to Commissioner Puckett
regarding his Alumni award that was mentioned at the last
Planning Commission meeting;
• Indicated she hoped her fellow Commissioners had an
enjoyable Father's Day;
• Stated she attended the Teacher of the Year Awards, the
Chili Cook-off, State of the City, and High Tea at the
Wilcox Manor;
• Noted that the Tustin Police Department is starting
another Citizens Academy, a program she went through
many years ago and recommends highly;
• Promised to see everyone at the first Concert in the Park.
Puckett Thanked the Commissioners for their comments regarding
his award;
• Indicated he enjoyed the Chili Cook-off;
• Thanked everyone for supporting him in his 100-hole golf
marathon which he completed before he left to receive his
award;
• Stated that the High Tea at Wilcox Manor was
spectacular; and, thanked Lindburgh and Michael for all
they do for the Foundation and other groups in Tustin.
Murray Noted that he was dressed casually this evening because
he will be catching a plane to Boston right after the
meeting;

• Stated he attended the Chili Cook-off, High Tea, Teacher
of the Year awards, "Bravo for Bravery" which is organized
by the Red Cross and celebrates the activities of citizens
and the Fire, and Police Departments of Orange County,
and the Tustin Chamber Gala where The Winery was
awarded the "Large Business of the Year" for all the
volunteer work they do for the community;
• Offered congratulations to the Tustin Man and Woman of
the Year;
• Complimented Mayor Amante on his State of the City
address;
• Stated that the Vector Control is still searching for a new
District Manager; the budget for the new fiscal year was
approved.
Kozak Added that he appreciated the photos staff provided showing
the landscaping improvements to the corner at Holt and
Newport.
Puckett Stated that the Post Office has beautified some areas, but the
area around the two drop-off boxes on Prospect is dead and
needs rehabilitation.
Director Responded that staff has been in ongoing discussions with the
Post Office and working with them to get permanent
landscaping for that area in addition to a planting plan and
moving the boxes farther apart; progress is being made, just
rather slowly.
7:40 p.m. ADJOURNMENT:
It was moved by Puckett, seconded by Kasalek, to adjourn.
Motion carried 4-0.
The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is
scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the City
Council Chamber at 300 Centennial Way.
