Resolution No. 2537: A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A NEW ACCENT AND BASE COLOR FOR THE TUSTIN MARKET PLACE Presentation: Steve Rubtn, Senior Planner Commissioner Le Jeune noted that he liked the newer Terra Cotta color and the toned down accent color. Commissioner Wetl indicated that she liked the Terra Cotta with small amounts of the accent colors and that it was more compatible with the Auto Center and will fit in the overall Tustin Ranch concept. Commissioner Shaheen stated that he had no agrument with the new colors. Planning Commission Minutes October 6, ]988 Page two Commissioner Baker noted that he has always had a problem with the colors. He also noted that he appreciated the developer's attempt to find appropriate colors. He confirmed that the pickets along Jamboree Road would be off-white and asked that the Resolution reflect that color change. He asked what color the freeway wall would be painted. Glenn Meyers, representing Donahue Schriber, indicated that the perimeter wall would be the Terra Cotta base color. He also stated that the Tustin Market Place sign is approved as purple and that the developer was asking if the base color (Terra Cotta) could be included as a possibility for the sign. Commissioner Baker asked if the purple would be a grey-purple. Mr. Meyers stated that it would be a darker purple, the same color purple would be used throughout the center and not different hues of purple. Commissioner Well noted that she remembered that the agreed upon color was a grey-purple. The Director noted that there was a wide range of hues within the hue range that could be chosen. Commissioner Baker asked if the graphics program that was reviewed used a grey-purple. The Director noted that the applicant desired more flexibility than the original approved colors allowed. Leason Pomero¥, representing the applicant, noted that they were leaning toward the darker purple. He also indicated that the total amount of accent colors has been reduced to one-tenth of that originally approved. Commissioner Baker noted that he would prefer a richer, darker brown base color however, considering the reduction of the accent colors, he was willing to accept the Terra Cotta color. Commissioner Le Jeune asked what would bring this color issue back to the Planning Commission. Staff responded that the issue is resolved. The Entertainment Village will come before the Planning Commission for approval even though the same colors are proposed for that part of the project. Commissioner Well noted that the base color has created a lot of positive excitement and is compatible with the Auto Center.
