AN ORDINANCE OF TItE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING TItE TUSTIN CITY CODE REGARDING PAINTING
OF CURBS
The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does hereby
ordain as follows:
1. Part 4, Sections 7240 through 7246,.inclusiVe, of the Tustin
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
7240 PAINTING OF CURBS AND PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
No person shall paint, mark, inscribe, nor impose upon any curb,
parkway or public street any house number, traffic control, or
parking instructions without first obtaining a permit from the City
Engineer.
7241 PROCEDURES
Applications for a permit to paint house numbers on City curbs may
be filed with the City Engineer indicating area of City to be
serviced, evidence of compliance with City standards, and name of
responsible adult supervisor. A business license with a fee as
s~ecified from time to time by the City Council shall be required.
7242 STANDARDS
(a) All curb house numbers shall be' of size, color,
and style in conformity with specifications on
file with the City Engineer.
(b) Numerals and designshall be located on the
curb face not more than one (1) ihch from
the top of the curb.
(c) Curb house numerals shall be not less than
three (3) inches in height.
(d) Curb house numerals shall be. located to provide
exposure and clarity in associating the number
with its respective dwelling.
(e) Masonry paint shall be used for numerals and
background equal to or greater than the standard
specification on file with the City Engineer for
street application.
7243 SERVICE AREA AND TIME PERIOD
The permit of the City Engineer shall be valid for a period not
exceeding ninety (90) days and shall specify the area
of the City to be solicited for the painting of house
numbers. No permit shall be authorized for an area greater
than can reasonably be serviced within the time span of tile
permit and no more than one permit shall be issued for any
one time period for any area.
7244 LOGO
The logo of the City, as per specifications on file with
the City Engineer, may precede the house number for all
curb addresses within the City limits. The City logo shall
not be used for those addresses outside of the incorporated
limits of the City.

7245 SOLICITATION OF FEES AND DONATIONS
Permittees may request payment or solicit donations for the painting
of house numbers not in excess of the amount as may be specified
from time to time by the City Council. Such request or solicitations
shall be made by mail or circulars only prior to any door to door
I4 personal canvas. Letters of request or solicitation may state com-

. 5 Letters or circulars shall be submitted to the City Engineer for
approval prior to use.
7246 REVOCATION
The City Engineer shall be authorized to revoke any permit for non-
8 compliance with the terms and conditions herein specified or for
failure to perform within the time period of the permit.

10 2. The immediate adoption and effectiveness of this ordinance is re-
11 quired as an urgency measure to preserve and maintain the public health,
1~ welfare and safety and accordingly, this ordinance shall be effective immedi-
1~ ately upon adoption.
14 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council, City of
15 Tust~n, California, held on the 21st day of February, 1978.
