THE CITY OF TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION JUNE 25, 1973 The regular meeting of the City of Tustin Planning Commission was held on the 25th day of.June, 1973, at the hour of 7:30 p.m., of said day in the Council Chambers, 275 South "C" Street, Tustin, California. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Sharp. The Invocation was given by Commissioner Larnard. ROLL CALL: Present: Absent: Others Present: Dombrow, Hare, Larnard, Sharp McHarris James G. Rourke, City Attorney; Bruce Lenorovitz, Assistant Planning Director; Mary Ann Chamberlain, Planning Commission Recording Secretary. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Larnard moved for approval of the minutes of the June 11, 1973 meeting; seconded by Commissioner Hare. MOTION CARRIED: 4-0 PUBLIC HEARINGS - None PUBLIC CONCERNS - None. OLD BUSINESS - None NEW BUSINESS Western Carpet Mills - approval of plot, elevation and land- scape plans for subject building to be located within a Planned Industrial District in the Irvine Industrial Complex Location: Warner Avenue, west of Red Hill Avenue Mr. Lenorovitz reviewed the Staff report and stated that previous actions regarding this property included approval of Parcel Map 73-61 which divided the area bounded by Bell Avenue, Red Hill Avenue, Warner Avenue, and the Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway tracks, into 5 parcels. The industrial building for Western Carpet Mills Company will be located on Parcel No. 1 of that Parcel Map. The Development Preview Commission has considered the plans in detail and recommended to this body that the plans be approved with the following minor additions: It was recommended in the landscaping plan that the 5' wide planter strip (and irrigation) be extended along the northwesterly property line adjacent to the railroad tracks. It was stipulated in the plot plan that 2 parking spaces in the vicinity of the loading dock be deleted to allow for an adequate turn-around area for trucks. The elevations, colo~ and sign plans were approved by the Development Preview Commission as submitted. -1- PC Minutes 6/25/73 Page two Chairman Sharp questioned the applicant, Tom Gabric, AIA in charge, if he had seen the staff report and the resolution. Mr. Gabric stated that he had received them and agreed with every condition except 2 (d) of Resolution No. 1347. Mr. Gabric informed the Co~mission that the Irvine Industrial Complex was working out a solution to that water linc problem with th~ Tustin Water Works to the satisfaction of the Tustin Fire Department. Commissioner Larnard moved to adopt Resolution No. 1347 approving the plot, landscaping and elevation plans for the industrial building of Western Carpet Mills Company to include the change of 2(d) as follows: That adequate water lines and adequate fire flow be pro- vided to the satisfaction of the City of Tustin Fire Department. seconded by Commissioner Dombrow. MOTION C~RRIED: 4-0. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION - None CORRESPONDENCE League of California Cities Bulletin announcing their 75th Anniversary Conference for city officials in San Francisco, October 21-24, 1973. If any of the Commissioners wish to attend, they are to contact the Planning Department at City Hall. County Variance (V-8151) (Service station free standing sign at ti corner of Newport Avenue and Andrews St.) The Commission directed Staff to prepare'correspondence to the Orange County Planning Department informing them of our sign ordinance requirements and requesting them to honor our re- quirements in the Tustin Sphere of Influence areas. STAFF CONCERNS - None COmmISSION CONCERNS - None ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Hare moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. to the ne×t regularly scheduled meeting of July 9, 1973; seconded by Commissioner Dombrow.
