STACK, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE RED HILL AVENUE PARKING BAY AT PINE TREE PARK CIP NO. 20063 AND SAN JUAN STREET SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS CIP NO. 70198 SUMMARY Construction of the Red Hill Avenue Parking Bay at Pine Tree Park CIP No. 20063 and the San Juan Street Sidewalk Improvements CIP No. 70198 have been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and are now ready for City Council acceptance. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council take the following actions: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 10-112 accepting the construction of the Red Hill Avenue Parking Bay at Pine Tree Park CIP No. 20063 and the San Juan Street Sidewalk Improvements CIP No. 70198; and 2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office. FISCAL IMPACT Each of the projects is entirely funded by the Community Development Block Grant program. The final construction costs for the Red Hill Avenue Parking Bay at Pine Tree Park and the San Juan Street Sidewalk Improvements are $93,025.01 and $88,908.20, respectively, totaling $181,933.21. The authorized change order amount is $2,850.00 or 1.7% of the original contract costs. Pursuant to the Government Accounting Standards Board, Statement 34 (GASB 34), the project valuation amount will be added to the City's infrastructure inventory after final project accounting by the Finance Department. DISCUSSION The Red Hill Avenue Parking Bay at Pine Tree Park added parallel parking spots along southbound Red Hill Avenue along the east border of Pine Tree Park. The San Juan Sidewalk improvements involved the addition of a new sidewalk along the south side of the street opposite Utt Middle School. Construction of these projects was completed on November 19, 2010. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Red Hill Avenue Parking Bay at Pine Tree Park CIP No. 20063 and San Juan Street Sidewalk Improvements CIP No. 70198 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
