HomeMy WebLinkAboutLETTER FROM MAYOR AMANTEOffice of the City Council
Dear Concerned Citizens,
Despite false claims about the City from TUSD, the matter of TUSD's lawsuit against the City is
quite simple.
In 2002 new environmental laws came into effect. Since that time, Rancho Santiago Community
College District, South Orange County Community College District and the City itself has
followed these laws. However, TUSD sued the City of Tustin to avoid taking a few extra steps to
comply with new environmental laws intended to prevent pollution and property damage.
The City of Tustin countersued TUSD asking them to comply with the law. TUSD's compliance
with City laws protects homes and private property as well as public streets and sidewalks next
to schools. Compliance will also protect city coffers and taxpayers from the liability of
environmental fines that would be levied the City as a result of the school district's failure to
comply with environmental regulations.
TUSD please comply before the costly lawsuit begins next week.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jerry Amante
