HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Minutes 03-14-55MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, MARCH 14, 1955, AT THE CITY HALL MEMBERS PRESENT: Bacon, Tadlock, Kidd, Hardy, Byrd, Gallion and Siegel. MEMBERS ABSENT: Quinn and Means. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. Chairman Bacon called the meeting to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting of January 31 were read and approved. Chairman Bacon read an application by Charles F. Logan for rezoning of 7.80 acres. Balla~ds Resub., of the City of Tustin, including the South West corner of "D" Street and Sixth Street from R-1 (One Family Dwel- ling Zone) to C-2 (General Business Commercial Zone) and Amendment to 0rdinanc~ No. 71. A map of the property was studied by Commission member s. John 0. Mershon, of 655 South "B" Street, addressed the members opposing the requested C-2 Zoning for the West portion of the property. Glenn Pyeatt, of the Tustin Drug store, spoke in opposition to C-2 zoning. R. F. Featherstone, of ~55 South Pacific St., also objected to the requested C-2 rezoning. Glenn E. Eustis, Real Estate Broker, spoke in favor of C-2 zoning and pointed out what he considers the need for greater shopping facilities for the Tustin area. Eugene E. Jacobson, prospective purchaser of the property, stated that he plans to build a Food Market and other retain stores on the property if the requested C-2 Zoning is allowed. He objected to the suggestion of limiting C-1 or C-2 Zoning to the center line of "C" Street as proposed by one Commission member and stated that zoning of this nature would not allow sufficient space as required for parking. , Charles F. Logan was present and spoke briefly in favor of C-2 Zoning for this property. At 7:50 o'clock P. M. Chairman Bacon announced that the Public Hearing was closed. Commissioner Siegel moved to create an R-3 buffer zone on the West side of the line of "~" Street. There was no second to this motion. Upon motion of Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Com- missioner Siegel and duly carried, it was agreed to rec- ommend C-2 Zoning as requested to the Tustin City Coun- cil. Hardy voted No to this motion. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the meeting was ad Journed. Secretary.
