PLANNING COMMISSION HELD ON MONDAY
EVENING, JUNE 6, 1955, AT THE CITY
HALL
EMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Bacon, Siegel, Byrd,
Tadlock, Means, Kidd and Hardy.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioners Quinn and Gallion.
CITY ATTORNEY:
C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was absent
due to another meeting.
Chairman Bacon called the meeting to order at 7:00
o'clock P. M.
Chairman Bacon read an application for Variance by John
B. Lyttle requesting permission to erect a 6 x 12 ft.
Directional Sign 36 ft. South from the center line of
First Street and 35 ft West from the center line of
Prospect Avenue. The sign to be 6 ft. off the ground.
Its purpose is to direct cars North on Prospect Avenue
to Tract 256~.
Chairman Bacon read a letter from City Attorney Nisson
outlining requirements of a pending County Ordinance
regarding Directional Signs for subdivisions.
Upon motion of Commissioner Tadlock, seconded by Com-
missioner Siegel and duly carried, this requested Sign
Variance was granted subject to the provisions of the
proposed County Ordinance for a period of six months
from the date sign is erected and the requirement that
a $50.00 deposit is posted before sign is erected as a
guarantee that it will be promptly removed at the ex-
piration of six months unless an extension is granted
by the Planning Commission. A $50.00 deposit will be
required for all Directional Signs of less than one
hundred square feet.
Commissioner Hardy moved that when "D" Street is re-
turned to the City of Tustin that a Stop Sign be erected
at the South East Corner of First & "D" Streets, seconded
by Commissioner Siegel and carried, it was agreed that
this recommendation be presented to the City Council.
Chairman Bacon read a letter from the Orange County Plan-
ning Commission which calls attention to the fact that
the Commission now requires that sidewalks be installed
as part of the street improvements in subdivisions.
A letter from the Orange County Supervisors and Minute
Orders of that body acknowledging receipt of Resolutions
of the Tustin Planning Commission recommending the widen-
ing of Seventeenth Street, from Tustin Avenue to Newport
Avenue, and Newport Avenue, from Tustin Avenue to Foot-
hill Boulevard, also a Resolution recommending the ex-
tension of Fourth Street, East from Tustin Avenue to
Irvtne Boulevard, were read by Chairman Bacon.
A letter from A. S. Koch, County Surveyor and Road Com-
missioner, relative to the above Resolutions was also
re ad.
All the above letters and Minute Orders were ordered
received and filed upon motion of Commissioner Tadlock,
seconded by Commissioner Hardy and duly carried.
Commissioner Hardy moved to adjourn. Commissioner Siegel
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
