HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Minutes 08-08-55MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, AUGUST 8, 1955, AT THE CITY HALL COM~IISSIONERS PRESENT: Bacon, Means, Tadlock, Park and Byrd. COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Kidd, Hardy, Gallion and Quinn. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. Chairman Bacon called the meeting to order at ?:35 P. M. Minutes of the meeting of July 2~th were read and change was made in Paragraph 8 in which the word "adopted" was replaced by the word"presented" regarding the rules and regulations of the Orange County Planning Commission re- lating to signs. The matter of Carl T. and Gaetha Sisson's application for Variance for permission to use a 27 foot House Trailer as a Real Estate Office, also for permission f. or signs to be used on Lots ~, 7 and 9, in Block "A" Bundys Ad- dition to Tusttn, being Nos. 315-32~ and 33~ South Tustin Avenue, was discussed at length by Commission members. Attorney Nisson stated that the use of a Trailer for office purposes would be in conflict with the 1949 Uni- form Building Code as used by the City of Tustin. Upon motion of Park, seconded .by Means and carried, Attorney Nisson was authorized to prepare a Resolution granting a Variance as requested to Mr. and Mrs. Sisson, effective September l, 1955. Mr. Akin, of La Colima Ave., and another representative of a group of home owners North of Tustin were present and submitted a map showing proposed requested commer- cial rezoning of certain territory East of Tustin, lo- cated in the County, comprising property including the junction of Newport, Holt Avenue and East ?irst Street, now zoned as residential, which proposed commercial re- zoning is being protested by home owners in and adjacent to the vicinity. Upon motion of Tadlock, seconded by Park and duly car- ried, the Planning Commission agreed to recommend to the City Council that the Council go on record opposing the requested commercial rezoning and to instruct City Attorney Nisson to prepare a Resolution to that effect to be presented to the Orange County Board of Super- visors at the proper time. Tentative Map No. 2793 from the Orange County Planning Commission was presented and viewed by the members. The Clerk was instructed to inform that body that the Tustin Planning Commission has no objections to the map as sub- mitted. Commissioner Means moved to adjourn. Commissioner Tadlock seconded the motion. Motion carried.. Meeting Ad journed. Secretary
