HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Minutes 09-12-55MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 12, 1955, AT THE CITY HALL COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bacon, Siegel, Means, Byrd, Hardy, Park and Tadlock. COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Kidd and Quinn. ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was absent. Chairman Bacon called the meeting to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting of August 8 were read and approved as read. Chairman Bacon read an application ~for Variance by Robert C. and Wilma C. Maypole in which permission was re- quested to erect a Triplex (3 Family Dwelling) on Lot 5, Tract 324, of the City of Tustin, numbered as 515 South "B" Street. This property is zoned R-1. Application as submitted contained the signatures of .four property owners, also attached were two letters from property owners within 300 feet of the property in question, approving the application. The matter was discussed at length by Commission members and verbal protests opposing granting of the Variance were heard from G. Lewis Baldwin, representing Thomas Quayle and Mrs. Eva Gallagher. Mrs. Margaret R. Utt and Horance Stevens also protested. All these were property owners within 300 feet of the Maypole lot. Mr. and Mrs. Maypole addressed the Commission re- questing the Variance be granted and stated their reas- ons for so doing. Commissioner Hardy suggested that the Maypole's request permission for a duplex rather than a triplex dwelling. Upon motion of Hardy, seconded by Means and duly carried, the Application for Variance to erect a Triplex Dwelling was denied. Commissioner Park not voting. Willard A. Long, of 130 Lockwood Park Place, was present and requested permission to erect a brick fire- place to extend for 18 inches in front of his residence. Commission members offered no objection to this request. Chairman Bacon announced the meeting adjourned. Secret~ry.
