Present: Bacon, Humeston, Sheridan, Mitchell, Mueller, C la rk Absent: Gray City Engineer: McBride, present City Attorney: Rourke, present MINUTES AP- PROVED AS AMENDED Moved by Mr. Mueller, seconded by Mr. Mitchell that minutes of August 21st meeting be approved as amended. Motion carried. JESS STAFFORD VARIANCE OPENED Hearing on Jess Stafford Variance carried over from August 21st. Hearing was reopened at 7:40 P.M. Mr. Frank Clark arrived at 7:45 P.M. Mr. Stafford presented corrected plans for golf course and petition of nine names in favor of granting such variance. Mr. McBride, City Engineer, stated that motion of August 21st minutes asking for curb and gutter should be modified and that only additional right of way should be deeded to the city with sidewalk placed back of area to be widened. There being no further comments or objections, the hearing was declared closed. SIGNAL OIL VARIANCE OPENED RE SIGN Hearing opened on variance request of Signal Oil Company for sign at First and 'D" Streets. Mr. Weaver asked to amend variance request to raise height of sign from 16 feet to 20 feet above ground level. There being no objections and no further comments, the hearing was declared closed. Motion made by Mr. Sheridan, seconded by Mr. Mueller that the Planning Commission request the City Council to give all possible consideration to a study for a sign ordinance. Motion carried. Hearing opened on Dunston Variance request. There being no one present with objections or comments, the hearing was declared closed. On motion of Mr. Clark, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, the variance request to erect a directional sign at Seventeenth & Yorba Streets be granted for a period of one year and that a $100.00 bond be posted with the City Clerk by applicant. City Attorney to draw up res~lu~on granting said variance. Motion carried by roll call- all members present voting Aye. Hearing opened on variance request of George Ahamnos to permit 8 foot setback on ground floor and 5 foot setback on second floor on alley at rear of lots 6 and 7 Preble Drive, Tustin, California. Mr. Ahamos explained setbacks and spaces between buildings. There being no one present with other comments or objections, the hearing was declared closed. Moved by Mr. Clark, seconded by Mr. Mueller that resolution be drawn granting setback variance request of George Ahamnos provided Mr. Ahamnos bring two copies of plot plan to City Clerk showing setbacks. Motion carried by roll call' Ayes: ~lark, Mitchell, Mueller, Humeston, Bacon. Noes' Sheridan. Correspondence from County Board of Super- visors regarding District Map 10-5-9, Exhibit E, read. Mr. E. Nahigan spoke on behalf of a portion of the property being zoned C-1. Those present objecting to any C-1 Zoning at this locat ion' Mrs. W. Ward Mrs. R. Kirn Reve re~ Salvaggio Mr. Cameron Mr. W. Ward Moved by Mr. Sheridan, seconded by Mr. Humeston that the Secretary write to the Board of Supervisors that Tustin Planning Commission wishes to go on record as being in favor of zoning entire parcel of land on Newport Ave. as shown on District Map 10-5-9, Exhibit E as R.P. Zone. Motion carried. Moved by Mr. Mitchell, seconded by Mr. Sheridan that Secretary write to the County Planning Commission stating that this Com- mission has no objections to Tract 4331. Motion carried. BEN BROWN HEARING ON OCT. 9th Moved by Mr. Sheridan, seconded by Mr. Clark that October 9th at 7:30 P.M. be set for Zoning Hearing on Ben Brown Annexation. Mot i on carried.
